Abstract

Purpose: This chapter aims to address the problem and explore the process of creating the new ‘markets of tomorrow’ from the perspective of the technological inequalities arising in this context and leading to conflicts in international trade, thus prompting the creation of promising areas of conflict management.

Design/methodology/approach: The study is carried out using the comparative analysis methods through the review of analytical data, as well as using the qualitative structural and logical analysis method.

Findings: This chapter reviews the factors that determine the benefits and limits of participating in the creation of the new ‘markets of tomorrow’ in some of the world’s countries. Prospects and recommendations are identified to prevent or partially mitigate the technological inequalities constituting a barrier to the creation of new ‘markets of tomorrow’, provoking conflict in international trade and promoting the development of promising areas of conflict management.

Originality/value: The results of the study generally supported the assumption that recovery from the economic downturn associated with the COVID-19 pandemic requires a comprehensive and sustained economic transformation capable of delivering economic growth that would contribute to the broader social and environmental goals to be achieved over the coming decade. Implementing such a transformation will require the active creation of ‘markets of tomorrow’ through a creative combination of disruptive technological and socio-institutional innovations. The aim is not only to produce more or in a better way but also to transform economies by creating new technological and institutional systems that can address some of today’s most pressing social problems, in particular to mitigate technological inequalities and prevent conflicts from developing.

Abstract

Purpose

The goal of this work is to determine the nature and potential of the impact of the development of strategic alliances on the achievement of the key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the states.

Design/Methodology/Approach

The study is involved with the use of the universalisation method, statistical analysis method, trend-based method, simulation-based game approach and correlation analysis method. The values of estimated indicators have been determined through the use of these global rankings, identifying their level between 2018 and 2021 in the countries which rank among the leading countries in the field of development of strategic alliances (Malta, Canada, Sweden and Israel).

Findings

It has been established that sustainable economic development of strategic alliances scarcely ever has a positive impact on the achievement of the SDGs of the states. It has been established that such interaction is possible if these business entities observe certain terms ensuring the necessary development parameters of components of sustainable development. Conditions of the achievement of effect from the impact of business associations of these goals have been identified empirically.

It has been proven that such business associations as strategic alliances due to the range of their activity and the potential associated with it can act as economic institutions that complement the functions of the state towards the achievement of sustainable development milestones.

Originality/Value

The academic novelty of this research is that it substantiates the potential to secure the impact of strategic alliances on the achievement of certain SDGs associated with the observance of certain organisational and economic conditions of strategic management.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of the work is to solve the set problem and to study the competition and perspectives of division of labor of humans and machines during creation of intangible assets in Industry 4.0.

Design/methodology/approach

The research is performed with the help of regression and comparative analysis by building regression curves and with the help of the qualitative structural and logical analysis.

Findings

The authors perform an overview of the factors that determine the advantages and limits of participation in creation of intangible assets in Industry 4.0, determine the perspectives and compile recommendations for division of human and machine labor during creation of intangible assets in Industry 4.0.

Originality/value

The results of the performed research confirmed the general hypothesis that machine technologies allow improving the innovative, marketing and organizational and managerial activities and activities in the sphere of R&D through automatization of certain stages of the process of creation of intangible assets. The authors determine the factors that define the contribution of machine technologies in this process and their competitive advantages as compared to human intellectual capital during creation of intangible assets. These advantages prove the possibility and expedience of division of human and machine labor during creation of intangible assets.

The purpose of the chapter is to develop and substantiate the principles of implementation of the innovational model of well-balanced information economy.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of the chapter is to develop and substantiate the principles of implementation of the innovational model of well-balanced information economy.

Methodology

The methodology of the research consists of the method of analysis of causal connections, which is used for determining the need for proclaiming various principles of implementation of the innovational model of well-balanced information economy, evaluation and comparison of the possible methods of their observation, and studying possible consequences. This allows determining the optimal set of principles that allow – with the highest precision – implementing in practice the offered innovational model of well-balanced information economy.

Results

The author offers eight main principles of implementation of the innovational model of well-balanced information economy: principle of balance, principle of simultaneousness, principle of balance of state and entrepreneurial initiative, principle of innovational activity of personnel, principle of cyclicity, principle of feedback, principle of effectiveness, and principle of protection. They focus on peculiarities and key advantages of the innovational model of well-balanced information economy and guarantee its formation as a result of practical measures that are aimed at informatization of the economic system. These principles must be a guide for action for modern economic systems, and their strict observation will allow implementation of the offered optimal model, not just formation of information economy, thus guaranteeing its balance.

Recommendations

The developed principles are recommended to scientific and practical application.

The purpose of the chapter is to describe the concept of conflicts of socio-economic systems on the basis of the theory and methodology of the systemic approach.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of the chapter is to describe the concept of conflicts of socio-economic systems on the basis of the theory and methodology of the systemic approach.

Methodology

The authors use the provisions of the systemic approach.

Conclusions

It is determined that dynamic socio-economic system is susceptible to conflicts, which, according to the Systemic approach, are bifurcation points. The features of conflict that allow defining it as a bifurcation point are its short duration, violation of sustainability of socio-economic system, uncertainty of consequences, influence on the system on the whole (cascade effect), and multiplicity of scenarios of development of socio-economic system after the conflict.

Originality/value

Studying conflict with the help of the theory and methodology of the systemic approach allowed determining the fact that conflict is a violation of order in a socio-economic system (which specifies definition of conflict and its essence) and could be evaluated through the measure of the system’s order (which specifies methodology of conflict evaluation). Moreover, conflict in a socio-economic system emerges not at once – it is accumulated under joint negative influences of internal and external factors. Further, the performed research allows specifying the classification of conflicts, which is offered in previous chapters – according to scenarios of development of socio-economic system after the conflict, normal (leading to normal change of system), abrupt (leading to abrupt change of the system), and attraction (all following states of the system are sustainable) conflicts are possible.

The purpose of this chapter is to determine the basic institutes of well-balanced information economy and compile its institutional model.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this chapter is to determine the basic institutes of well-balanced information economy and compile its institutional model.

Approach

The research methodology is based on the methods of the new institutional economic theory. The authors determine the most important qualitative characteristics of the innovational model of a well-balanced information economy and select social institutes that allow taking them into account and ensuring them during practical implementation of the model. The authors describe social institutes that are the basis of a well-balanced information economy and the process of their formation. The authors also use the method of modeling socio-economic phenomena and processes to compile the institutional model of a well-balanced information economy and the method of formalization of its graphic interpretation.

Findings

It is concluded that the basic institutes of the innovational model of a well-balanced information economy include the institutes of feedback collection and control and protection of information. These institutes ensure observation of the principles of implementation of this model and ensure its cyclic development and sustainability in the long-term.

Originality/Value

The presented institutional model of a well-balanced information economy harmonizes the interaction between all the participants of socio-economic relations and processes of information economy, including its state regulation, transition of new information into the category of existing (from product into resource), internal and external exchange of information, its usage, etc.
